Home vs Chessington National Cup 14th May 2010
It was not Friday the 13th it only felt like it!!! A match to forget as the batting, bowling and fielding were all poor. Chessington got 139 for 9 off their 20 overs. Dittons reply never got going with only Matthew getting to double figures. The Ditton middle order were simply blown away with a very ordinary Chessington bowling side taking full advantage of batsmen who only wanted to give catching practice. It was left to the last pair of Jack (playing his first every game) and Matt (playing his first game of the season) to show everyone how to do it. They put on an great unbeaten partnership of 20 for the last wicket to take the score to 52 for 9 off our 20 overs.
Away vs Old Ruts League 16th May 2010
Things had to get better and they did. A very good all round performance (except for the dropped catches) with a team actually playing like a team being very positive throughout. Old Ruts batted first and after an expensive start from Matthew (0 – 29) and Matt (0 for 16) who was unlucky to get a wicket they were 52 for none after 8 overs. Then Louis and Hugo came on and they could not have bowled better. Old Ruts could not deal with them and Louis finished with 2 – 11 and Hugo with 4 for 17. Finn and Peter each got a wicket as Old Ruts ended on 133 for 9. Had the catches and there were some simple ones dropped been taken they would not have made 80. The fielding was good especially from Alex playing his first game.
Ditton’s reply started well with Matthew and Hugo putting on 24 off the first 6 overs before Hugo was out for 8. Then Matt, Sam and Tommy all went quickly and it looked like Friday all over again. Matthew and Finn then blocked the next 8 overs before suddenly to the relief of everyone watches came to life. Finn then smashed a six and three fours and Matthew reached 40 and had to retire. Henry then came in and having bowled very well also batted very well. Finn was not out on 26 as Ditton reached 97 for 4. A very good performance against a strong Old Ruts side that have won most of their matches.
