Congratulations to the Under 11’s, who beat Chessington by 10 wickets on Friday evening. All the bowlers bowled a good line and length and restricted Chessington to just under 80 off their 20 overs. In reply, openers George Horsey and Imogen Neely did not look in any trouble, with the extras creeping up and George finishing not out on a superb 29 and Imogen ably supporting him with 9 not out.
Match report Long Ditton U13’s vs Worcester Park 23rd May 2010
After three league losses in a row Ditton finally got their first win of the season against Worcester Park. It was an excellent all round performance, which saw them win by 7 wickets.
Worcester Park batted first and put on 19 fairly quickly before Hugo L got the first wicket. He got his second wicket in his next over when Alex took a good catch. Sam and Louis then bowled well and kept the run rate down as Park reached 60 for 2 off 11 overs. Henry then came on to bowl and the match swung Ditton’s way as he destroyed the opposition taking 6 wickets for 16 runs. It was a man of the match performance as he clean bowled three and there were catches from Hugo L, Louis and Glen. Ditton’s fielding was good especially from Hugo J and Peter who refused to let anything past them. Jacob’s keeping was very tidy once again as he only conceded a few byes. Both Louis and Matthew got caught and bowled wickets as Park were bowled out for 101 in the 21st over.
Ditton needed a good start to calm their nerves and they got it. Hugo L and Matthew are the most consistent opening pair in the league and they got Ditton to 30 from the first 6 overs. They both hit a number of fours and Matthew a huge 6 into the woods. Matthew was then out and Sam came in and the runs continued. Sam and Hugo both batted brilliantly putting on 45 before Hugo had to retire not out on 41 and Sam was bowled for 24. Henry then batted as he had bowled before he was caught on the boundary trying to win the game with a 6. Finn and Louis then saw Ditton home to a well deserved 7 wicket victory with 3 overs to spare.
This was a great team effort with everyone playing their part and sets the boys up well for the final 5 league games of the season. Many thanks to Ian for umpiring and Neville for scoring.
Away at Worcester Park, the Under 15’s were narrowly defeated, with Charlie Boxall top-scoring on 64, before having to retire.
