Weekend round-up 19 and 20 June

The Saturday First XI suffered a surpise loss against Woodmansterne at home, whilst the seconds lost in a thrilling match away at Lingfield, by 1 wicket. Mark Blackwell hit a superb 83 and again got the ball wobbling around, with Lingfield just managing to hit the winning run on the last ball. Even thiough the Second XI lost, it was a great game and Dave Oldham’s youthful side deserved much credit for putting up such a fight.

On Sunday, the First XI beat Chertsey, recovering from 20 – 4, to finishing on 263 off 45 overs, with Michael Hall finishing on 123, having smacked the ball to all parts of the ground. The Sunday 2nd XI had an unexpected day off, with Epsom having double booked their ground. Just shows how hard Dave works during the winter to make sure all the fixtures don’t clash, as these sorts of things are taken for granted.
