The Surrey venue at Horley may have been difficult to find but was a very beautiful setting for our game against Sussex.
Our Captain Kirsty was joining us for her first match following injury. With two good performances Surrey were feeling confident and for the third time this season fielded first. The bowling could have been tighter at times, but with some good tactical field settings from Kirsty, Imogen and Caitlin, Sussex’s scoring rate was restricted. Due to this pressure Sussex lost wickets and were struggling to hit runs eventually finishing on 70 after 25 over’s.
Both Surrey openers Imogen and |Kirsty set about the run chase well and saw off Sussex’s opening bowling. After the first wicket fell, Caitlin came to the crease and soon hit some good shots to the boundary. The rest of the batting looked solid and victory was soon clinched with overs to spare.
Another win for Surrey and our confidence is now growing as a team. Next we take on Kent.
