Saturday – beaten by more runs than we care to remember, with only Dave Downey troubling the scorers.
Sunday – won against The Pretenders by 1 wicket, in a very sporting but exciting 40 over game which managed to go right down to the last couple of overs. Earlier, Tom Rogers had taken 5 wickets, with James Chapple unlucky to take more wickets. Adam Hunt, Tom Bennett and Sam Cheema all bowled well, to finish off the season with a very tidy bowling display.
After tea and a heavy shower, cricket was just manageable, Mark pleased that his sawdust bought in a Wimbledon pet store weeks ago was finally used, especially at £7 a bag! Batting, bowling and fielding was tricky and with a slow start, it looked like the the Pretenders were going to cruise it. Having recovered from all his bumps and bruises whilst fielding, James Chapple got the score moving along and was assisted by Tom Bennett and Sean O’Rourke, to finally stear Long Ditton home in the gloom with 2 overs to spare.
A great way to finish off the 2010 season – roll on 2011!
