LDCC – Colts Under 15
Dear All
Welcome back to all from last year, and welcome to new parents and colts that have entered this age band. Chris, Claire and myself will be looking after all children within the school years 9 & 10.
We hope you have all wintered well and now for the long and hot summer (hopefully). The winter nets have seen some great cricket from the 10 who have attended which bodes well for when the rest of the squad start training next month. The winter nets run until the first Monday in April so if you wish to attend so come down. (7pm – 8pm)
Training
Training for Under 15’s will be held on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and will finish 8pm. However these times are subject to change and the first couple of weeks training will start at 6pm. In the event of any changes or cancellations you will be notified by email so please check your email on a regular basis especially if there is bad weather.
First training session 6pm-8pm Wednesday 20th April.
Please bear with us in relations to the times because all the coaches are volunteers and have both busy work and family commitments. That being said most weeks there will be four coaches available (three of which hold ECB Level 2 badges) so it is unlikely that any sessions will be cancelled.
Equipment
The only essential piece equipment that the colt’s need is abdominal guard (box) otherwise they will not be able to bat. PLEASE BRING THIS TO TRAINING SESSIONS AS WELL AS MATCH DAYS. All other kit will be provided if needed. If possible I do recommend that all players purchase a helmet and pads and get used to wearing them. There is nothing worse than wearing ill-fitting equipment.
Matches
Please see attached list for games throughout the season, which could be subject to change. At present the Under 15 team are entered into the Mid Surrey League, Surrey Cup and National Cup and games are mainly on Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday mornings. Games usually start at 9.30am but there may be a couple of evening fixtures.
All players selected will be notified by email by the Manager, Claire. Please respond as quickly as possible. Unlike other clubs, players at LDCC players are not expected to pay a match fee. The only fee you pay is the subscription, which covers all the training sessions, and practice matches which makes for exceptional value for money.
Selection for the league and cup matches will be based on firstly ability with commitment and attendance at practice sessions taken into account. We are in the best and strongest league in Surrey and will be playing all the best teams in the county. Last year the U15’s proved to be competitive winning a number of games but with a potentially stronger squad this year we are aiming for an even more successful year.

Chris and Nick will be assisted on Wednesday evenings by Colin Knight (ECB level 2 accredited) and Alan Jones.
Ian Tyrell has volunteered to assist once more this year with some of the umpiring duties.
It would be great if other parents, guardian’s family and friends etc could help out on match day. Much help is required with the umpiring, scoring, drinks and setting up of the ground. Any help would be greatly appreciated and allow Chris and myself to concentrate on the coaching.

Extra games will be arranged especially if we exit the Cup competition early. The 2nd round, semi final and final are scheduled for the 29th May, 5th June and 12th June.
