U 11 Long Ditton v Worcester Park Friday May 6th
On a sunny Friday evening in front of an animated crowd, Imogen lost the toss and the opposition put Long Ditton into bat. Freddie suffered a toe injury facing the first ball and had to be replaced at the crease after hobbling off. Oliver and Imogen played steadily to build a solid score. Oliver was finally run out for 13, which allowed Freddie to return to the field after receiving ice treatment. He was quickly bowled by an excellent delivery , making way for Tom Webb who hit a quick 4. Imogen was forced under rules to retire on 30 having played a brilliant captain’s innings.
Defending 102 for 4, Long Ditton showed some excellent fielding skills to keep Worcester Park’s score down. Wickets fell in quick succession, the first falling to Ollie Carter in the 6th over with a brilliant stumping by wicket keeper Leo. Ben took the second wicket in the next over. The team worked well to stop the opposition building up runs with excellent fielding from Louis Tommy and Kit. When Tom Webb’s brilliant stop and throw claimed the 3rd wicket in the 18th it was all but over. Felix took a catch on the last ball of the match leaving Worester Park on 86 for 4, to complete a brilliant victory.
