U9s gain revenge over Worcester Park on Friday, 8 July

After tlast week’s narrow defeat at home against Worcester Park, the Under 9s travelled to Green Lane, looking for the win. Captain Alex Finnie lost the toss and this time were asked to bat first. Luke Shaw got the innings off to a great start with a 4, before the run rate became steady with numerous wides being bowled. Batting was extremely sensible, with only 6 wickets lost, allowing Long Ditton to finish on an imposing 293 off their 20 overs.

In reply, Worcester Park found runs hard to come by, even in wides, as the Long Ditton bowling was extremely tight, which was really where the game was one. Demon bowler Alex Finnie took a hat-trick, which was one of many highlights of the game and really took the game away from Worcester Park. Catching was excellent, with some great catches from Aaron Langford and David Bradford, which enabled Long Ditton to record an excellent win.
