Seniors’ round up 16 & 17 July

Both Saturday League games were abandoned on Saturday, without a ball being bowled, whilst on the First XI completed their game on Sunday, away to Twickenham. Having lost the toss, Long Ditton were asked to field, just as another heavy downpour game along. After the second downpour, Twickenham’s groundsman did not want play to continue, but their skipper did, so Long Ditton struggled with wet conditions and a ball almost impossible to hold. This in part explainedd 30 wides and no balls being bowled, which proved decisive in the end, as Twickenham posted 231 in 35 overs. Mark Thompson again took 2 wickets, removing the opening Twickenham batsman on 99. In reply, Long Ditton fell  20 runs short, the highlight of the innings was Simon Sweeney scoring his second century of the week.
