The Saturday First XI took the Fuller’s League Division 2 First XI title on Saturday, away at Wandgas. Some teams play next weekend, but Long Ditton has played all its Fuller’s League fixtures for the 2011 season. The First XI won in style, not being beaten at all this year, with some great bowling figures from Gareth Plunkett, James Chapple and Anand Desai, plus some excellent batting from Ian Antonio, James Chapple, Nick Turnbull and Dave Downey.
The Seconds also finished the League season with a win at home, also against Wandgas. It was fitting that almost in the dark, Phil Bradley and Paul Mock saw Long Ditton home.
On Sunday, the President’s XI took rather stiffly to the field and were beaten by the Long Ditton side, whilst on Bank Holiday Monday, Long Ditton beat Grand Union by 2 wickets in a very close match. After Long Ditton lost 4 quick wickets, Ollie Neely and Tom Rogers steadied Long Ditton and batted very sensibly, to put Long Ditton into the winning position.
