Seniors’ Round-up 3rd and 4th September

Surrey Lankians were the team who came to Stokes Field on Saturday, to play a friendly game. The game started a little late, as the opposition were waiting for all their players to arrive. With one eye on the light, it was decided that the match would consist of 35 overs per side. As most of the first XI looked on, drinking and sunning themselves on the boundary, Long Ditto batted first and posted 173 for 9 off their allotted overs. Although several players got a good start, none went onto make a good score and this made a difference, with Surrey Lankians easily winning by 7 wickets. There was no cricket on Sunday, as just as play was about to commence against the Australian High Commission, the heavens opened. Even though a very enjoyable tea was taken early, the game was called off without a ball being bowled.
