Seniors’ Round-Up 10 and 11 September

Long Ditton beat Weybridge Vandals on Saturday at home, with the first and second XI now playing together as one side, following the end of the League season. It was good to see a couple of our youngsters, Joe Rogers and Matt Baker helping out the opposition, who arrived 9 men short. Weybridge Vandals made 117 off their 35 overs. In reply, Long Ditton got off to a nervy start, being reduced to 17 for 4 at one point. However, John Parkins and James Chapple steadied the ship, to see Long Ditton safely home.

On Sunday, a very strong Chessington side were the visitors and with Long Ditton taking to the field at the start, it was inevitable that Chessington would rack up a hue score. They were all out for 350 in 41 overs, with Long Ditton very much looking forward to tea. In reply, Long Ditton managed to get over the 100 mark with the loss of 5 wickets, before proceedings were brought to a halt in the 27th over by rain, Chessington having won on a faster scoring rate. All credit to everyone who pitched up on Sunday for Long Ditton to play the game. It was very much appreciated by the club.
