Seniors start 2012 season with a 10 wicket win

Old Sinjuns were the visitors to LDCC on Saturday, kicking off the earliest ever start at Long Ditton. Old Sinjuns won the toss and elected to bat, a move they probably regretted. After winter net sessions and a good practice outside on Good Friday, all the bowlers were in good form and quickly reduced Sinjuns to 34 – 5.  To be fair to Sinjuns, a few of their batsmen were struggling with Surbiton station being closed due to engineering works, which certainly didn’t help their cause. LDCC captain Ian Antonio allowed a couple of the Sinjuns batsmen to go back in and this allowed Sinjuns to reach a total of 71 all out. Pick of the bowlers was former Clubman of the Year Tom Bennett, with 4 wickets for just 3 runs. James Chapple took 3 wickets for 17 runs, Ben Rhymes chipped in with 2 wickets and Oli Fegan also picked up a wicket.

After tea, Nick Turnbull (36 not out)  and Simon  (34 not out) steered Long Ditton home safely home in just 13 overs, getting the season off to a great start. Full score details are on the Play-Cricket site  – click on the link on the right of the screen.
