Sunday Seniors lose against Yately

Only 1 game again this weekend, with the seniors travelling just over the border of Surrey into Hampshire and the village of Yately, in a change to the original fixture. On a cold Sunday afternoon, LDCC won the toss and elected to bat (much to the relief of Matt, Louis and Mikey, who immediately went on a mission to order pizza where there seemed to be nothing else around. The wonders of mobile phones!) Ian Antonio, James Mumford, Sam Nowlan and Mike Hall were all amongst the runs, with Ian making 62 not out, James Mumford 34 and Sam Nowlan making a jug avoidance 45. Mike Hall launched a huge 6 at the end of the innings, with Long Ditton finishing on 184 for 4 off their 40 overs.

After a superb tea (Mark was caught by the Yately’s tea ladies inspecting the food) Yately’s top order quickly got ahead of the run rate, as the temperature dropped even further.  Scott Gore and Ryan Bone ensured that Yately were never in trouble, and helped Yately to ease to a comfortable 6 wicket win over LDCC, before all the LDCC fielders defrosted in the bar afterwards.
