Long Ditton Under 11’s recorded another compressive victory against Worcester Park on Sunday. Following last weeks heartbreaking loss Ditton needed a good start. This they got with another brilliant opening partnership of 75 between Cameron Stevens and Louis Ackland. Louis raced to an excellent and highly entertaining 31 before he retired not out. Guy Parkin then joined Cameron and the runs continued. The only way our batsmen get out these days is by getting run out and so the pattern continued with Cameron the first run out for 25. Not to be out done Guy followed soon afterwards and Ben Mettrick was the last one out, yes you guessed it run out. Skipper Tommy Boxall did run well between the wickets and remained not out. Long Ditton reached a very good 118 for 3 from their 20 overs. A great display of batting as Worcester Park bowled and fielded well.
The big total was always going to be difficult for Worcester Park to match and this was made all the harder with Ditton getting two wickets in the first three balls of the innings. Ben bowled excellently as he always does but was superbly supported by a fantastic stumping by Joe Parkin and a great catch from Tommy. This set the tone and Ditton continues to bowl and field really well as they strolled to a comfortable victory. Guy then produced a brute of a delivery to bowl one of park’s danger men. Hari Kandiah then got two wickets and Louis another. James Geary finished things off and got the final wicket with his very first delivery. Park ended on 75 for 7 with Long Ditton winning by 43 runs and a wonderful all round performance. Next up is a crunch game against Malden Wanderers at home on Friday night, a must win game if Ditton are to keep marching up the table.
