Huge thank you to all at LDCC from Mark L.

Back in the summer, LDCC’s committee nominated me to attend an awards evening at the Oval, for volunteers in cricket. A very pleasant evening was had, even seeing Surrey win (Obviously this wasn’t in the Championship!).

Somehow, these details made their way to Elmbridge Borough Council, who held their Sports Awards this evening, to which I had been invited. The last award to be presented was the Mayor’s Award, for Outstanding Services to Sport in the borough. I was very surprised, but highly delighted, to have been awarded this tonight. (The Mayor was very pleased, as he was born in Long Ditton). Thank you to everyone from the club who nominated me for the award in the summer – much appreciated.

Another person who deserves a mention is Adam Barlow, who has clocked over 100 hours volunteering for Long Ditton. He took part in a cricket volunteering scheme and had to get others to sign off his record. These hours have been recorded by the ECB at Lord’s, so hopefully Adam should be receiving some recognition of these efforts soon.
