Both senior Second XIs start with wins

The Second XI sides were the only sides in action this weekend, as the ground at LDCC was still too wet for play. A young Second XI travelled just down the road to Hook and Southborough, to begin their campaign in the new look Fuller’s League. Having won the toss, Hook and Southborough elected to field, but LDCC’s batting was more than up to the task, with Tommy Daniels again passing 50, Will Bradlley making 38, Chris Neely 45, Charlie Hinchliffe 36 and Matt Baker 21, to post a formidable total of 231 for 5 off the allotted 45 overs. In reply, Hook and Southborough, having only 9 men with 2 being taken into their first team at short notice, could only post 45 all out, giving LDCC’s Second XI one of their biggest wins in the Fuller’s League for a very long time.

On Sunday, the Seconds visited Godalming and also claimed a win. LDCC bowled out Godalming for 95, with Sam Cheema the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets. Tommy Daniels took 3 wickets and Felix Williams 2 wickets. LDCC were never really in trouble and won by 5 wickets, with Steve Williams (30) and Matt Baker (20) the two top scorers.
