Tough International baptism for the U14s today in largely fine weather on a stodgy track at Old Tiffinians. A good bowling and fielding effort contained the visitors to 88 but once again our batting let us down against some accurate bowling. Dutch MotM Viktor tore out the LDCC upper order with a fine spell of 3-1-3-3 from which we struggled to recover despite a fine effort from Felix. Even with some stoic late resistance from James, our tail refused to wag.
Bowling – Generally pretty good today but its worth noting that 40 runs were contributed by our wides/no balls tally- Tighten up our lines boys and girls
Fielding – Great effort today. Despite a couple of spills we pressed hard in the field and created two successful run outs- Great job. Good pace to get through our 24overs in good time.
Batting – The first 6 wickets I saw were clean bowled middle stump! First rule defend your wicket. Second rule , hit the bad ball. We are being caught on the crease and not getting into our defence with a purposeful stride and weight on the front foot. Still need to be more purposeful even in defence. Those out caught were leaning back and chipping instead of leaning into their shot. Keep alert and looking to keep the scoreboard moving even on a tough track like todays.
Overall however I think everyone would agree it was a great experience for the U14s today. Big thanks to everyone who helped make the morning work and send Den Haag on their way with a great impression of LDCC. The return invite sounded attractive
