An amazing amount of runs were scored by the Saturday teams, with the highlight of the Saturday matches being Jason Matthews scoring 123 to enable Long Ditton First XI beat Horley. James Mumford made 55, with Ian Antonio 22 not out and Mike Hall 21 steering Long Ditton to their target of 233 in 41 overs. (Anyone following the updates on Twitter, which the former Club Secretary Mark Lambert was, sitting at home nursing a fractured ankle, knew it was much tenser than the final scoreline suggested)
The Saturday Second XI were unbeaten against local rivals Claygate, after having lost the toss and put into bat, made 216 for 7 off 47 overs, before declaring. Chris Hoult made 46, Tarn Huxford made 47 and Paul Mock 45 – Paul hit 9 4s in his innings.
In reply, Claygate couldn’t quite get to LDCC’s total and had to settle for 207 -5 off 48 overs. Dan Hoult was the pick of the bowlers for LDCC, taking 3 wickets.
On Sunday, the First XI beat Twickenham.
