Bennett’s bowling highlight of Bank Holiday Weekend

Three days of cricket were played at Long Ditton over the weekend, with both the Saturday XIs starting their League campaign with wins. The First XI cruised to a win over Deando Ruxley, whilst the Seconds won an entertaining game against Englefield Green.

On Sunday, the First XI lost in the first round of the League Cup at home against Merstham; the Sunday Second XI played their first game away in Merton, away to Clapham Nomads, losing with just over 1 over to go.

Bank Holiday Monday and Battersea Imperials visited the club for the first time. LDCC posted a very challenging 188 for 8 off 40 overs, with captain Tom Bennett making 43, Du Plessis 39 and Sam Nolan 39. Some great fielding and bowling put the visitors under pressure straight away, with captain Tom Bennett taking 6 wickets for 30 and Freddie Goodyear 2 for 15, with LDCC beating Battersea Imperials by a comprehensive 82 runs.
