Long Ditton CC 141-2 beat Shepperton CC 126-4 by 15 runs
Umpire John Parkins – Well wrapped up fortunately!
Great result despite the cold weather and gloom descending!
Long Ditton 141-2 Jamie Kapadia 53* George Bradford 32 Tom W 12 Dan T 10
A well-constructed innings based on solid opening partnership of 49 by George and Tom. Despite losing both openers in quick succession Dan’s watchful innings provided the continuity for Jamie to launch into attack and punish the opposition bowling before retiring.
Shepperton 126-4 Billy H 2-0-9-0, Tommy B 3-0-17-0 Kit G 4-0-23-1, Tom W 2-1-6-1 Josh 1-0-11-1
Long Ditton took to the field with a spring in their step given an imposing score. However with 29 on the board after 3 overs and a couple of spilled chances the field went quiet. Quick thinking by Kit followed up a spilled catch and ran out a key batsmen. Enter Billy with the pick of the bowling performances. Bowling accurately and taking the pace off the ball Billy, then our spinners Tommy and Kit slowly but surely reined in the Shepperton run rate with good support by Brodie, Josh and James in the deep field. Needing 21 off the last over in total darkness Ethan produced a really good over when it mattered!
MoM George Bradford – Captained from the front, set the tone and led the team to victory. And kept well!
Key points: Great support in the field from everyone, good energy and effort!
Bowling accuracy – We gave away 16 wides and 4 no balls – that’s an extra batting score and 3.2 extra overs – no wonder they stayed in the game as long as they did! Catching practice still needed!
Great stuff
