LDCC MotM: Thomas S All round great game. Good accurate bowling,. Two wickets, great catching(2) and great fielding. Even had 100% strike rate batting!(1 not out from 1 ball)

Champagne moment: Connor and Alex 50 partnership.

That’s the way to do it! Great all round performance and continuing improvement resulted in a thoroughly deserved victory. The margin was actually greater as 12 runs leaked off the last over. Put in to bat Roman had his first go and looked secure before getting a good one. Sam then got over excited and called a sharp one and was run out by a yard! Connor and Alex set about rebuilding from 0 for 2! A really good 50 partnership only spoiled by their habit of admiring some very nice stroke play rather than pressuring the field and running singles!  Rafe and Giac pressed on nicely and saw us post a reasonable total of 84-4.

When Leatherhead batted Sam and Idris opened up with some great accurate bowling. Iddy got his first wicket of the season in fine style! Alex and Dylan continued to keep the pressure on backed up by some excellent fielding from everyone! Wickets fell at intervals with Rafe and Tom getting their first victims.  Connor kept pressure on with some accurate bowling again whilst Dexter conjured up the magic again with his mystery spin. Dexter is now our top wicket take-well done! Big thanks to our sub Louie who got in some good fielding practice prowling around in the deep. Matthew did a great job behind the stumps. There was only 1 bye which was excellent. As the bowlers improve, it helps our keepers and the targets reduce.

Lessons learned: Big improvement in bowling accuracy reduced the extras again dramatically. Catches win matches – Thomas well done! There are more singles out there than you think. We could have made 100. Keep alert and ready to run, not admire! Something to work on.

Well done everyone.

Bring on the girls! That’s Spencer Girls our next match at home next Sunday. Team sheet to follow Wednesday
