LDCC through to next round of Fuller’s Cup after washout on Saturday in League

With yet more rain falling on Saturday, both League games were abandoned. The First XI at home had managed to get a good start against Shepperton before the rain came, but the game was abandoned with Shepperton on the ropes at 26 for 3 after 11 overs.

The Second XI had travelled to Weybridge Vandals and got a solid start, before they were forced off, having posted 78 for 1 after 23.3 overs. Captain Bennett had reached 25 not out, Bradley 34 not out.

On Sunday, the First XI were away to Southern Railway, Kenley and Selsdon Cricket Club. This time the day developed into a pleasant sunny day, with Long Ditton batting first. They were quickkly struggling at 6 for 2 off 4 overs, 54 for for 4 off 19 overs , but managed to reach 125 all out, thanks to knocks of 31 from Hall and 26 from Bradford.

A super bowling performance from Chapple taking 5 wickets for 8 runs off seven overs and Fegan taking 4 wickets for 6 runs off 5 overs saw LDCC bowl out Southern Railway for 69, to achieve a superb win and progress through to the next round.
