On a scorching hot day, the Senior First XI travelled down to Newdigate in the Fuller’s League. Having lost the toss, the First XI were somewhat relieved to be asked to bat first. Highlights of the batting were Ian Antonio 86 not out, James Mumford 75 and James Chapple making 60.
After tea, Matt Baker and Anand Desai destroyed the Newdigate batting, with Baker taking 6 – 31 and Desai 3 – 29, giving LDCC a huge 216 runs victory.
The 2nd XI hosted Newdigate at home and batting first made 194 – 9 off 49.5 overs. Ben Cheema and George Bradford made 49, with Steve Williams scoring 31 and Felix Williams scoring 17 not out. In an amazing piece of cricket, George Bradford was dropped 3 times in 3 successive balls.
In reply, Newdigate found batting comfortable and coasted home to win by 8 wickets.
