Pre-season Umpiring and Scoring evenings at Long Ditton

January 30, 2011 by

Without umpires and scorers it would be pretty difficult to have matches at all, but these sort of people are very thin on the ground. We always need to have umpires and scorers, as it takes pressure off the usual few. Claire Neely has very kindly arranged two evenings at the club, on umpiring and scoring. These evenings are aimed at those who have not had any or much experience doing it. Don’t worry – there won’t be an exams!

The umpiring evening  is on Friday 25th March at 7.30pm, which will be taken by Graham Cooper, of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The scoring evening is on Friday 8th April at 7.30pm.

Please come along and support your club – these two evenings will really benefit those who have junior cricketers at Long Ditton.

Received from one of our friends at another Fuller’s League team:-

Mark Butcher, former Surrey and England Cricketer, has pursued his love of music since washing his whites for the last time. He started playing guitar aged 13 and was writing andz playing live regularly before signing terms with Surrey CCC. Since retiring from cricket his focus has returned to the music, culminating in his stunning debut album “Songs from the Sun House”, inspired by his experiences of love, life and family. The songs offer a modern take on the best tradition of soul, blues and r&b. You can hear Mark and his band at

Glasswerk Music are pleased to announce that Mark will be playing a live intimate show in London on Wednesday February 9th. The venue is The Bowery on New Oxford Street and with only 100 tickets on general sale, this promises to be a rare treat for musos, cricket aficionados, and middle-order batsmen looking to enjoy a few beers with team-mates before pre-season nets kick in.

Tickets are available from: them before they all go! Make a night of it in and have a team night out!
