Long Ditton drew Battersea Ironside in the first round of the League Cup at the League AGM. Amazing how often we seem to play them in the Cup. The two teams who get to the final will have the experience of a lifetime by playing for the trophy at The Oval. Would be fantastic if LDCC could get there!

Letters of support needed from YOU!

At present, the Club Secretary is working with Surrey Cricket in trying to obtain funding to upgrade the outdoor nets. The nets are 10 years old and are pretty much worn out and we’d love to replace them with brand new nets. Would you believe that to replaced them costs around £20,000, which is money we haven’t got. To even be in with a chance of getting a grant for this much, we need to show that the nets are well used. We know they are, especially as some of our younger players practice in them right up until its dark (and even then try and carry on)! Please could you either write a letter of support or e-mail be at [email protected], stating how much you/your young player spend time in the nets and if it improves their ability, confident, lifestyle etc. Doesn’t matter if you are a young player, coach, parent or senior player – anything you put down in writing will be very much appreciated and will be used in our evidence folder to Surrey Cricket.

Many thanks for your assistance in this.

Happy New Year from LDCC

Happy 2012 from Long Ditton Cricket Club. We can’t wait for the 2012 season to start and are gearing up by getting all the fixtures into place and all the other bits and pieces which need to be done before a ball can even be bowled. At the end of last year, the Club Secretary received a letter from Surrey Cricket, with a brief review of the 2011 season. Every year, Long Ditton has to submit quite a detailed report, to the Surrey Cricket Board, along with various other clubs in the county. Figures taken from 73 clubs from 2010 and comparing them to 2011 figures show:

Participation numbers have increased 10.8% on 2010, coaching roles have increased 8.5%  and volunteering roles increased 4.68%.

Long Ditton’s own numbers increased during 2011 and we even made a profit, which will go back into the club. We’ve been re-accredited as a Clubmark club for another 3 years and will again be working with Surrey Cricket to develop the club. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the club in 2011 and helped the club have such a superb season. Roll on the 2o12 season.
