Surrey Cricket has invited Long Ditton, along with several other clubs, to The Volunteer Working Group pilot seminar around the development of volunteers,
taking place on Tuesday 13th March from 7.30pm at Leatherhead Cricket
Club. Surrey Cricket have given the following aims of the seminar:

·        Provide ideas and resources to help you recruit new
volunteers into your clubs
·        Discuss and debate ways of retaining volunteers within the
club once they have volunteered
·        Provide opportunities for you to reward and recognise your
volunteers
·        Discuss and explore current examples of good practice across
all areas of volunteering

The workshop will be no longer than 2 hours and will include
presentations from a range of people including local clubs, volunteer
centre members, Andrew Monk (chair of the Volunteer Working Group) and
myself. The objective of the evening is to get people talking about the
issues and coming up with solutions as well as providing you with some
real tools to go back to your clubs with.

Mark, Club Secretary, will be going and another person from Long Ditton who is interested in volunteering, is also invited. If you want to go, please e-mail Mark at [email protected].

Good net turn out from the seniors last night

Well done to everyone who turned up on a cold night for the first indoor net session last night (Monday, 6th February.) Dave, John, Tom, Gareth, Mark, Lawrence, Michael, Rick, Kumar and Jay (new player) all had a good session, with only a few wides being bowled. (Mark didn’t bowl, otherwise there would have been many more!)  Nets continue up until the end of March, between 7 and 8pm every Monday at Reeds School. You will be very welcome if you want to come along and join us.
